Welcome to Florence Chamber of Commerce
Florence is a friendly little town nestled on the edge of the scenic Texas Hill Country. We are located just off of Highway 195 between Killeen and Georgetown, with the lovely Salado Creek winding through. Florence continues to maintain an atmosphere of quiet country living, while offering unique gift shops, antique stores, western wear store, a complete grocery store, churches, gas/convenience stores, several restaurants and even a vineyard. Florence is proud to honor over 200 names of our local veterans who were involved in foreign wars. These names are recognized on a War Memorial, built in 1989 located next to our City Hall Building in Downtown Florence.
2019 Citizen of the Year
The Greater Florence Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to present Alicia Nichols as our 2019 Citizen of the Year! Alicia has lived in Florence since 2005. Married and with one adult son, she has worked part-time for the City of Florence for three years—although the hours she devotes to her job well exceed a full-time position. She is driven by one simple character trait—she truly enjoys helping people. Where she sees a need, she does her best to fill it. She was the force behind creating the Lions Club sponsored Blue Santa Thrift Shop, which in its first year provided almost $5,000 to purchase Christmas gifts for under-privileged youths within the Florence community. She also started Florence Market Days in an effort to bring visitors to Florence and increase traffic for local businesses. She promoted the event, organized vendor early-morning setup each Market Day and supervised clean-up at the end of the day. As an extension of Market Days, Alicia produced and promoted the Christmas Extravaganza, which was a tremendous success for local businesses and provided the community with a day of fun activities and shopping opportunities. Three years ago, she was instrumental in organizing and managing National Night Out, working closely with the local police department, local organizations and businesses and vendors. Alicia’s love for animals equals that of her love for for her fellow man. She facilitates and volunteers for local pet clinics to provide low cost pet care for the community of Florence. Promoting Florence comes as naturally to her as breathing, and she daily promotes local businesses on social media, as well as by word of moth. Alicia truly displays the volunteer spirit and the community of Florence is grateful for her selfless devotion to our small town.
